Today I really wanted to touch base on the importance of self care.

It’s no secret to anyone I’m huge on advocating self care. Self care involves taking care of yourself. Making yourself a PRIORITY. Why? Why take up your busy time to take care of yourself when you have a TON of things you need to do and catch up on? First of all, you could be starting a new business or just recently been promoted at work. Another, you could be a new mommy getting ready to go back to work, or recently divorced and trying to get everything situated plus dealing with tons of stress. Furthermore, there’s so much going on in our day to day lives.

For The Love Of Self Care

It’s time to prioritize.

However, self care has to be a priority. You can’t do much of anything if you are running on E, weary and exhausted. As a result, your mental health can suffer when you aren’t taking care of your body right. In my personal experience, I feel like I cannot be productive or take care of anyone if I haven’t taken care of myself first. Whenever I try to put myself last, I end up feeling awful. Have you ever tried watching your children when you are drained? It’s not a good feeling and it is a terrible cycle to get into.

You are IMPORTANT. No matter what anyone says, it is important to get enough sleep every night. Now, I understand a lot of different things can occur that interfere with your rest. You could be working a night job, your toddler could be teething, or you could be sick or your children could be ill. There are so many different scenarios! However, little things could turn into bigger issues. Self care routines are very essential in our lives. Working out, eating right, drinking enough water, and brushing and flossing should always be a priority in our everyday routine. I know it may seem so time consuming to do all of these little things and I can definitely see how tired or impatient people don’t want to deal with these little tedious tasks everyday.

I know how you feel because I’m that person too! I get easily annoyed with having to do these tasks because they seem to take up all this TIME. That my friend, is an entire myth. It only takes up a small portion of your day. Don’t let those negative thoughts take over your mind.

Moms are busy!

I’m a stay at home mom of 2 small children. Furthermore, a lot of moms reading this know how self care works in this case. Therefore, there’s not a lot of time for it. Even when my children sleep, I find it difficult to focus any attention on myself because I’m so tired. Actually I WANT to sleep too. They say you get more time to yourself as your children grow older! I’ve got to say the contrary, because no you do not. Because you’re busy doing homework, driving them to practice, and so many other things.

Because life can be SO hectic and overwhelming, I find it easier to plan and I know the Erin Condren life planner is absolutely amazing and very helpful. You can get yours down below:

This is just my case, it could be different for you.

Even though our lifestyles are different, making time for yourself is a key to your happiness. Your happiness is so important to those around you. You may want to be an inspiration to others, a good person, or just be able to focus on yourself positively. Either way, your happiness is key to your future. Finally, it’s the key to relaxation, releasing that tension in between your shoulder blades.

Relaxation is so important in our lives. Nobody likes being around a person who just doesn’t know how to relax or have a good time. I’ve learned that from experience.

Be consistent.

Self care has to be a repetitive and consistent routine in your daily life to increase your chances of happiness.
