Fun indoor activities with kids.
Are you looking for fun indoor activities to do with your kids? I always am! I’m a work from home mom and I am seriously always looking for distractions for my kids!
I absolutely LOVE the weekends. As a work from home mom, I make sure that I have the weekends off to just focus on my babies.
Just being able to relax with my babies is everything. No alarm clocks or rushing to get to a scheduled appointment.
My kids enjoy relaxing with me on the weekend but we all know kids prefer to be outside, going on adventures! However, there are sometimes cold and gloomy days when one prefers to stay indoors.
Do you need some ideas for fun indoor activities for kids?
I got you, mama. On these rainy and gloomy days, I always have a few fun indoor activities planned out to keep my girls entertained.
I don’t do this every single time, but usually I do and I’ve taken the time to write them out for you. Having these ideas ready and on hand, truly helps me out as a busy mom of two.
Paint each other’s nails.
I love to do paint my kids’ nails! Therefore, coming up with new patterns entertains me to no end.
I usually check out Pinterest for cute designs for my girls. As for the holidays, we always tend to match nails according to that festivity.
My oldest is a fan of this and lately Ella has been asking to have her nails painted too! I keep telling her to just wait till she’s a little older. Too cute!
Painting our drawings.
We usually paint whatever we draw. I always have spare large sheets of crafting paper around and washable paints.
Painting about 3-4 paintings and allowing them to air dry before putting them on the fridge or hanging them on the wall is ideal to us. My girls and I enjoy making cards for our family members, too.
Making lunch together.
My children and I LOVE making cute lunches together! Especially on the weekend when we finally have time to make them.
In addition, I have some fun cookie cutter shapes on deck that we like to use on sandwiches or on quesadillas. Eva loves to make her own sandwiches and I let her help me fix her plate up.
To me, it’s really important to teach my kids how to prepare their own food and have fun learning while they’re at it, too.
Have dance parties.
I can’t tell you how much my kids LOVE having dance parties. Pandora is our absolute favorite to listen to and I listen to the Disney station with them while dancing around. They love it so much.
I find it important to ALWAYS have a list of fun indoor activities for my kids handy. The reason why is because I really don’t like when they get bored at home!
Children being bored at home leads to fights and arguments plus crankiness. I have advice for you mom, if you know you’re going to be at home with your kids for a while: have crafts ready and some fun activities planned.
Spending time with your children IS fun and counts.
There’s nothing my children love more than spending time with their mama. And I enjoy it too. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy.
Some days I really don’t want to do crafts or have dance parties. Which is why it’s important as a mother to get into that positive mindset. I do this by saying my positive affirmations daily.
Fun indoor activities with your kids happen with positivity.
It’s easy to just write out a list of fun indoor activities for your kids and follow that. Are you actually happy though?
It’s key to be happy when spending time with your children because they pick up and notice when you’re unhappy or in a grumpy mood spending time with them. Children are very observant.
Do yourself a favor and make sure you’re in a positive and happy mindset before you start your fun crafts with your kids. God is good, he’s helped me countless times throughout my journey as a mother.
Not only am I blessed, but I do cherish these times with my children when they are little. I know how fast time flies by and I want to make sure I’m creating memories for my kids that they’ll cherish forever.
Make sure you’re investing time with your children.
One thing I always make sure to do is quality time with my children. I want to make sure I’m the best parent I can possibly be to them.
If I’m not being the best parent, I make sure to fix that. Spending quality time with my kids is a priority and I do keep track of how much time I spend with them learning and playing in my planner system.
The reason is to keep me on track and make sure I’m accomplishing everything I need to do. As a work from home mom, it’s so easy to loose track of time and just focus on the work.
And I don’t want to ever lose sight of the reason I became a work from home mom in the first place! It was because of my children!
I hope these fun indoor activities helped.
Though this list of fun indoor activities are short, I have plenty of other posts you can check out:
There’s so much to do on weekends besides being glued to Netflix or the tablet! To me, it’s all about spending quality time together and not so much screen time.
Don’t get me wrong, we love screen time but we do set limits. There’s plenty of other things to do besides stare at the screen all day!
That hurts my eyes.
Till next time,
