Learning to love your body as a stay at home mom.

I woke up and head over to the mirror in my bedroom. Taking take a quick look at myself, I attempted to suck in my stomach like I used to be able to after my firstborn. Next, I exhaled and stood there, just breathing. Seeing myself in the mirror,  I waited for all the dark and negative thoughts about my body to creep in. A few minutes went by.

Still waiting. Nothing. Because all I feel is love.

I love my body and I’m proud of it! Two kids later and I’m happy and healthy, standing tall and strong. Why hate on the body that allowed me to have these two blessings? Blessings I call my daughters that I’ll be able to love and cherish until the end of time.

Starting to appreciate my body wasn’t easy.

Sure, I’m no size 2 anymore but I just don’t mind it like I used to. I spent so much time hating my the way my body looked. I don’t hate my body anymore because I appreciate it for all it has done and will do. Self love to the fullest.
I workout three times a week and I know in a few months when my youngest gets older we will be outside exercising together!
Enjoy the now. I know mothers are always talking about the “snap back” after kids. That’s great and all, but it’s just not for everyone. There isn’t a single person on earth that’s the same. We’re all different. I lost weight a lot faster after my first. And that’s okay. However, I can’t punish myself with self loathing any longer. I refuse to. Finally, I want my happiness to radiate to my family constantly.
When you know your worth, you stop hating on yourself. You know in the back of your mind that life is a process. Good things take time, patience, and energy. If you set a goal, you will accomplish it. It just takes some time.

Treat yourself. I’m not saying go indulge in a huge box of chocolates, but if that’s what you want then you do that. By treating yourself I mean, go stand in the mirror. Look at yourself. I mean REALLY look at yourself. You’re a masterpiece. God created and molded you into an image He’s proud of. When you start seeing yourself that way, there’s no way you can’t radiate self love. Point is, the human body is a beautiful and wonderful thing.

Enjoy yourself, pamper yourself. We’re here for a short time, let’s make the most of it.
