Have you been going through a hard time and are wondering what to do next? Who to trust and where to go to? God is right there waiting for you to come to him and ask Him for help. We all go through hard times in life and phases that aren’t easy. This is where a lot of people go looking for ways to help them get through their situation and to help them feel better.

And let me tell you something. There are so many things that can make you feel better. Temporarily. Because you know what? Everything on this earth in my opinion, is temporary. Having a close relationship to the most High God has been the only thing that has helped me get through my tough situations and has kept me pushing through them. My faith helps. You need to have faith and keep seeking God through those tough times. Trust me, there’s nothing better or that will help you like Jesus will.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Matthew 21:22

Trusting God means having faith.

Do you want to know what people do to help themselves feel better during hard times? People try meditating, hiking, going on a health kick, and spending money on items they think will bring them happiness. I’m not saying healthy habits aren’t good for you. They are. I need to drink lots of water to avoid headaches and eat my healthy food too, just like everybody else.

What I’m saying is that God provides the long term fulfillment you are seeking. It’s taken me many years of trusting in God to realize, there’s more to learn on this journey as the years go by. I always thought that once you’re a Christian and saved, that’s it. You know all there is to know. That’s not true. Your relationship with God needs to grow and continue to grow as YOU grow.

You have to really put the effort into spending time with God and loving Him. At the start of 2023, I experienced 2 life changing events. I went to church to praise God and thank Him for always protecting me. But, something felt off. I discovered that just going to church won’t do it. I didn’t know what else to do. I have prayed, read the Word, and here’s what ended up really working for me. I put on worship music anytime I listened to music. The best songs that are my most favorite. After a while, I started to realize nothing speaks more to me than the music of the Lord. I think Christian artists and singers are amazing and thank them for using their gift to help others grow with God.

Ways for you to focus on trusting God and growing closer with him.

Let’s review how to keep your relationship strong with God. Because I know if you’re going through a hard time- you’re seeking guidance and I want to help you.

  1. Go to church Sunday. Focus on the sermon and the worship music.
  2. Read the Bible. If you don’t like to read, play an Audio Bible.
  3. Write out a prayer and then pray without writing.
  4. Listen to worship music as you’re cleaning, on your day off, when you work out, etc. Just have it playing while you are doing tasks and get used to this music instead of what’s playing on the radio.
  5. Have quiet time with God at least twice a day. 5 minutes a week isn’t going to cut it.

“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

Psalm 37:3-5
