Are you here for blogging tips and tricks that may help you on your blogging journey? I’ve done the same over the past two years.

This blogging journey has taught me a lot during these past two years and I’ve compiled a list of my helpful blogging tips and tricks that will hopefully help you in your blogging journey.

I’m not claiming to be a blogging expert, but these helpful tips are meant for the beginner blogger that’s attempting to build traffic and is seeing absolutely no results.

Blogging tips and tricks are necessary to know.

To be frank, I REALLY had no idea all of the behind the scenes work that bloggers have to do. I started out on my website because my husband wanted me to have a creative outlet that I enjoyed doing.

We went with Bluehost hosting my first year of blogging and I couldn’t understand why my husband wanted to make this website so professional. Well, he knew I loved blogging but he wanted my work to stay my work and nobody to copy it.

I just wanted to blog and slowly build a following that way. Now, I’m not saying that’s the wrong way but my husband was right.

It’s important to have all of your work under your own name, it is yours and safely protected. However, I made a mistake by picking Bluehost.

Seriously, I was just listening to the first search result and popular pins. The best hosting company any blogger can get is Skystra.

If you’re not blogging correctly, you’re wasting your time.

I didn’t even know anything about websites, at least not like I now know. And let me tell you, blogging is a never-ending learning process.

It’s hard entering the blogging world without anyone to talk to and not knowing what you are doing. That’s how I was.

After a while of posting blog post after blog post and not seeing ANY traffic, I started to freak out a bit. I was worried about wasting my time.

You need to learn about blogging. Take courses, read books, watch tutorials.

Anything! Just learn and spend hours learning.

Blogging is always evolving and it’s fun. You may have tons of new projects to work on and it’ll keep you very busy.

Either way, you need to invest time in educating yourself about blogging. Find bloggers on Twitter, Facebook groups, or search for great products to learn about blogging.

The point is, you need to get educated.

An extra blogging tip.

You see, when you’re blogging with small children, you ARE spending a lot of time on the screen. And if you don’t know what you’re doing, then sadly to tell you the truth, you are wasting your time.

As a work from home mom and a homeschool mom, this was going to take a toll on my time with my kiddos. And it did, in my experience.

But, only in the beginning before I started to understand blogging. Then, all I did was split my time up.

This is definitely an unpopular opinion, I know. But it is a waste of time for those who are trying to make money and success from their website if you don’t know what blogging is.

I quickly was seeing that something had to be done when my traffic wasn’t increasing as quickly as I wanted it to. And time was passing by.

Time to do the research.

To me, this is where the fun part began. I love reading and learning about new subjects. The internet has SO MUCH knowledge just waiting for you to open it up and learn!

Once again, let me be frank, you can research for hours on end and still feel like you are nowhere if you aren’t seeing results. But you need to learn and that means taking a few hours out of your day to brush up on your website tech skills.

Make sure you are constantly learning about blogging and anything related to websites. This will only benefit you in the long run.

Blogging tips and tricks.

  • Grow your e-mail list from day 1. The sooner, the better. 
  • Invest in a P.O. box in order to grow your e-mail list. (These two blogging tips go hand in hand). 
  • Grow your Pinterest business account. 
  • Pin various different types of pins that you create which lead back to your blog posts, especially the popular ones. 
  • Work on your product NOW! Don’t waste any more time. 
  • Post content consistently. 
  • Plan out a month’s worth of trending content and try to make them at least 1,000 words. However, I prefer 2,000 words.
  • Plan out your blog posts to be published at least twice a week. 
  • Pick a beautiful theme for your website. 
  • Learn about SEO. 

These blogging tips are some I wish I had listened to before. As I look back on these, I realize their value and significance.

Even if you’ve seen these helpful blogging tips before, I hope you know that they are coming from the bottom of a blogger’s heart! They’re not just writing you the same tips over and over again for no reason.

No, it’s because this is what it takes to get your blog to the next level. You can’t just make money in five seconds within opening a website.

It takes a ton of hard work and dedication. It takes some late nights and overwhelming and stressful days. But you CAN do this. It just takes a while.

Growing your e-mail list will always be important.

Even if you’re getting all of your blog traffic from Pinterest or Google, nothing means more than your e-mail list. These are people who subscribe to your website because they love how you write, what you write about, and what you offer to them.

That’s valuable and important as a blogger. So, make sure you grow your e-mail list and pay attention to that. What you should create is an amazing freebie that’s worth subscribing too.

I’ve seen them all! Brainstorm out a list of freebies and pick your favorite one. Make sure to make it GOOD and worth subscribing to.

Don’t forget your audience wants the freebie, but they want to hear from you too! It’s important to come out with a weekly newsletter, (I believe in weekly newsletters, especially if you’re an author) because when I buy a book ( AND it’s amazing) I would feel HONORED to have the author e-mail me weekly.

Think about YouTubers or “influencers”, you rush to click on their video once it’s out. At least, I know I do. I love weekly newsletters and it reminds me to click on that blogger’s website and hear what they have to say.

That’s very valuable. You want those little reminders to get to your audience because that’s more traffic to your website.

The importance of having a P.O. box.

I think this is pretty self-explanatory. In order to start your e-mail list and send out those weekly newsletters, you need to have a P.O. box.

You don’t want your personal address all over the internet, now do you? I don’t think that’s a smart choice, so investing in a P.O. box is a smart idea.

A lot of influencers I see on Instagram and on YouTube have these because they want a place to receive their free products and letters or mail having to do with their business. The same goes for bloggers.

As I said, these two tips go hand in hand with each other.

If you already have a Pinterest business account and you’re just starting out, you are definitely on the right track. It’s important to grow your Pinterest stats and the only way to do so, is to constantly create new pins.

I HATED doing this at first. To me, the important part was supposed to be WRITING. Right? Not so much.

Yes, your content needs to be valuable but so does your promotion right? That’s what Pinterest is, it’s you promoting your blog posts to the world. So, make sure your pins are beautiful and click-worthy.

I’m definitely not a Pinterest expert, nor do I claim to be. But I do have 1.1 million monthly viewers currently. Ell Duclos is a Pinterest expert and you can definitely visit her website for the Pinterest knowledge you are seeking.

I have followed all of her free tips and have been successful with Pinterest. I do some things differently, but she is very good at what she does.

It’s time to create your product now if you haven’t.

Hard work isn’t what anyone wants to do from home right?! We all want fast results with minimum work and we want them NOW.

But that’s not how life works or working from home. It takes hard work. I can’t stress how important it is to create your product now if you haven’t.

I admire so many bloggers and I love to read their material. Creating a product is in your best interest.

Here’s another quick note, if you already have a huge e-mail list and a ton of traffic, then it is so beneficial to yourself and your business to create an awesome product that you put your heart and passion into. For me, it’s easier to write books.

For you, it could be creating a digital product, a free e-book, or other types of products.

Whatever product it may be, just start now. It takes a while to do especially if you want to maintain the traffic you already have going on.

I am currently working on my book and it’s very exhausting. Writing the book is easy because I love to write, but on top of creating blog content and releasing pins, it feels like a lot.

And it is. So, getting your product done and out of the way will feel like a relief and when inspiration strikes once again, you’ll be more familiar with the creating process and it’ll be easier. 

Make sure you are posting consistently.

Often times I subscribe to a blogger’s website, really looking forward to new content along with a notification that a new blog post was posted. Well, I usually end up unsubscribing.

Why? Because I never received a notification of a new blog post. Sometimes, there are new blog posts out there but I thought I would get notifications since that’s what I was promised when I signed up.

Remember to keep your word with everything that you promise. Nobody likes being lied to or forgotten about.

Planning out your blog posts to at least twice a week is very smart to do. For some, it’s because Google likes to see you posting consistently.

For me, it’s for the reader. I feel like my true audience that likes and appreciates my content, deserves to see my new content twice a week.

Call me crazy, but it’s true. I appreciate my audience so much and that’s the only reason I pursued blogging as a career.

That goes along with the blogging tip of picking a beautiful theme for your website. Picking a beautiful theme for your website makes your reader’s experience all the better.

Once again, blogging is meant for the READER. Hopefully, most of your content is meant for them and to benefit and better their lives.

Learn about SEO.

I’m about to take my own advice. Investing in your blog can sometimes cost a bit of money, I’m not going to lie.

I have yet to actually invest in courses/classes for blogging. I have paid for just one that was a little cheap and taken many free ones.

Everything else I have learned I have done on my own. I have many plans for my website and I’m in the process of doing them and taking you (my audience) along with me.

But first, I have so many pending projects to do. My book is almost finished and I’m going to really focus on my e-mail list for a few months. Then and only then will I concentrate on SEO.

Don’t get me wrong, I know the basics of SEO because I’ve researched the topic up. I have learned just about everything from free resources, which I am so grateful for!

But soon I will be ready to invest in SEO and you’ll be the first to hear about it. I’m so excited for the future!

    There are SO MANY things to do “behind the scenes!” Luckily, my husband has learned this so when I’m at the computer, he asks, “Writing a post or doing something else?”

    Definitely agree with the PO Box, too! I still haven’t gotten one but I figured I can go a few months without one, but that’s only because my husband is in Law Enforcement and I feel safe, even if there was a creep trying to get to my home. . .
