10 ways to self care.
Are you looking for good self care ideas? I’ve compiled a list of 10 ways to self care for you.
I’m about DONE with this week. Working on my blog and mommy’ing can sure be exhausting!
I’ve never seen myself have such dark circles under my eyes before! It’s definitely time to make some “me” time happen.
Actually, I want to share with you all what I’m going to catch up on for my type of Friday. However, there are always endless self care lists out there and I personally LOVE reading up on them because of great new ideas I can use for myself.

10 ways to self care.
- Schedule those tedious appointments!
Trust me, I get it. I hate scheduling those annual physicals, 3-6 month dental checkups, and many others as much as the next busy gal.
But we need to take care of ourselves! Those appointments have to happen anyways and they just end up getting squished into a week last minute.
Might as well take some time on your day of rest and get them all booked up, with times and dates YOU’RE happy with.
My planner system helps me so much with scheduling my appointments and with keeping track of my kids’ appointments as well.
- Time to catch up with relatives.
Some of you are like, “nooooooo!” I understand that feeling all too well. On the other hand, your mom could be waiting by the phone to hear how you’ve been and don’t forget- she probably wants you to ask how she’s been too.
Be nice! Check on your siblings too while you’re at it.
During school breaks I enjoy scheduling play dates with my sister and her kids to spend time together. That’s always a fun idea!
Self care means giving yourself “me” time.
- Get ready for the day.
If you’re super busy like me and don’t care enough to throw on makeup before school drop off, go ahead and do your makeup today!
Chances are you’ll be out running errands so might as well look good doing so.
I know us mamas are always crazy busy but it’s important to take the time to look good. When you look good, you feel good right?
Making time for yourself is important.
- Wash your hair.
I wash my hair every other day. Today is a good day to try out a new shampoo or conditioner and blow dry your hair.
Maybe curl or straighten, spice it up a bit! Changing up your look once in a while is never a bad idea.
I recently got my haircut which is unusual and it made me feel great! Take some time to self care and spend a little time pampering yourself while you’re at it.
- Print out those OLD pictures stored on your phone.
Oh, you know what I’m talking about. Us moms must have like a hundred pictures we need to print and frame.
Have some fun and catch up on photo albums, maybe scrapbook too. It’s always fun to be a little creative.
Time to get your workout on. Going outside is my first ideal choice because I love getting some fresh air, but the gym and working out at home are great options too.
You’ve been so busy. Taking some time today for your health is a great investment in yourself for the long run.
Having healthy habits is ideal in order to live a happy and safe lifestyle. Be sure to workout and stay in shape.
- Take your daily vitamin.
This may seem small, but it really isn’t. Sometimes I’m too busy changing a diaper and trying to answer a phone call to remember to take my vitamin supplements.
I only take one, but I know plenty who also take hair, skin, and nail vitamins. It shouldn’t be so hard to take a vitamin daily but I end up forgetting.
Whenever I take my vitamin I record it in my bullet journal.
Don’t forget today!
It’s important to stay healthy.
- Drink your greens.
I got this idea from my sister once when I spoke to her about how I don’t care much to eat my veggies. I only really like the taste of broccoli and green beans and don’t cook it nearly enough as I should.
It’s your day off, don’t you think it’s time to give coffee a break today? (Personally I have the hardest trouble taking even one day off coffee, ha).
Fill up your 8 oz glass of greens and drink it up! I say 8 oz, because personally I can’t stomach much more than that.
- Read a good book.
These days it’s harder and harder to spot people reading paperback books. I only see this happening at the library.
Sometimes when I am walking through Target I see a lot of great books but they are a little pricey. Then I am on my phone and happen to see the same book for a lower price.
So take out your iPad then and catch up on your favorite reads!
Homecooked meals are the best.
- Cook yourself a delicious meal.
I know what you’re thinking. WHAT. It’s my day off, why would I want to cook myself anything?!
I’ll grab takeout. Tempting, isn’t it? I enjoy cooking a big homecooked meal for my family and I when I have some free time.
Even though you want to grab a takeout, doing it all of the time is not healthy. Trust me, it may take a little more time to cook but your stomach will thank you later!
Try a new recipe, turn on some music, and have some fun.
I hope these tips on self care can help you unwind after a long week. When I make time for myself, I feel better after a hard work week.
